I have been seeing the referenced subject "Religious Intolerance" and
have been bothered by it.
At the risk of starting a conflict on the subject, which I don't want
to do and I really do not want to see any argumentative follow-ups.

I think that the word which should be used is Religious
Preference. In other words the religion a person wishes to
adhere to. Intolerance sounds more like the Crusades, or, maybe
simply the fact that One cannot tolerate the couple down the street
because of their different religion.

You are probably wondering what I am getting at. It is simply
this: If a particular church, be it Lutheran or Catholic, modifies
its standards to suite people of another religion, it is no longer the
same religion, but a new denomination.

Yes, it happens and you have new denominations. The reason the
churches, Catholic or Lutheran, had their wedding requirements, was to
maintain their religious standards, not to be "MEAN SPIRITED" toward
each other.

Please, no fights.
