Re: The Schroeder and Peuse Families

Hi Mary, I have some SCHROEDER and PRIESS on my family tree from Schwann,
Klein Belitz, and Satow near Buetzow, from the old duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
My KRUSE family from that area immigrated 28 Oct 1869 on the ship Allemannia with
some Schroeders and married into that line.

How did you find your family came from the city of Schwerin? Ship record, birth
record, family word of mouth ? Or was it the Schwerin region?

Was your PEUSE spelled differantly like PRIESS or any variation? I have not
heard of Peuse before.

SCHROEDER is a very common surname in Germany, like Jones in America,
and they are everywhere.

If you know they came from a certain town in Germany, you can order the
microfilm records from the parish that serves the town, through your local
"Family History Center". The microfilms have marriages, births, baptizms,
and deaths and this is how I found my KRUSE back into the 1600's. The
records were a little hard to read at first, but you learn fast.
