Ja, but I'm beyond the one's you mention, I think, but I have not used them in a while. My experience: for words Babylon.com is near best and very efficient. Just click on a word and a pop up gives you a translation in many languages of your choice, even Wikipedia explanations which are usually very good when it makes the link. It costs a little money but is worth it.

For translating paragraphs, Google's translator is the most expedient I have found. There are many other translators, but I have not compared it to others for a while. They all seem to make the same mistakes.
When I translate I put both versions in MS Word in side by side columns. Translating in either direction, the machine translator makes silly mistakes in every paragraph. But I can go through the text pretty fast and correct the mistakes, particularly when I can click on any word and get an instant [and technical] translation. It is amazing how often I have to correct the German before I get a good English translation.
I practice every week on the short stories about the origin of German names in Die Welt [German newspaper]. The author is good but uses too much idiom for me to clearly understand. But he makes it interesting. Determining the correct meaning and nuance are very difficult but strikes me as a challenge.
