I'm asking people who have experience with documents issued by
a Standesamt back around the 1900 time period. There is a place
given as to birth and present residence on a marriage certificate.
Was this place always a city or town or would a county have
sufficed?
I'm hoping to find data about the parents of the groom and bride
from their marriage certificate. I'm also looking for the birth records
of my grandfather now that I have his birth date but wonder of the
place given is a town or a county when both exist. His birth falls
into the time of the begining of the Standesamt records and it may
be listed in the church records or the official state records.
