Sorry, but my knowledge is pretty much limited to the parish of Hude with a
sprinkling of spotty information on other parishes from which my family
came.
But first, I am confused by the place name you give. Others on the maillist
can probably address this better than I, since they live there, but Berne is
a kirchengemeinde (or parish) in the Landkreis (or county) of Oldenburg,
which is in the Land (or state) of Niedersachsen in the country of
Deutschland (or Germany). Pomerania is another area lying some distance
northeast, as I understand. Much of what was originally Pomerania was ceded
to Poland after WWII, and what remains is now called, I think Vorpommern.
Preussen (or Prussia) was the state which eventually effected the merger of
many German countries and principalities (including Oldenburg) into the
German Empire after the Franco-Prussian War about 1870. Much of Prussia was
also lost after WWII, going to Poland and Russia.
I think probably the place name you want is Berne, Oldenburg, Niedersachsen,
Germany.
Here is a link to the map of Oldenburg which shows all the parish
boundaries, so you can see where Berne lies. It borders Hude and lies along
the Weser river.

The parish registers of Berne extend back to the 1640's, and the contact
person for them is Friedrich Wragge. I have read newspaper articles by him,
and suspect he will be glad to help you. You can email him at
Friedrich.Wragge@t-online.de. He can probably provide much better
assistance to you in further research in his parish. Especially you might
ask him if there is an Ortsbuch for the town your ancestors lived in (unlike
most American Protestant parishes, German parishes are territorial, and
include several smaller communities around the central town. The Ortsbuch
is a published study, common in Oldenburg, which traces the succession of
owners of each home, and often provides information not contained in the
parish registers.

too, am searching for family in that area. I have family that immigrated to
the USA in 1856 from NeuenKoop, Berne Parish, Oldenburg, Pomeranian,
Pruessen. The The only information I have is this last location in Germany
and that they were a Lutheran farm family. Any direction would be
appreciated.
