Dear John,
Do you have access in Australia to the microfilmed church records from
Oldenburg that are available at Family History Centers. They are worldwide, but
there are notations on the films that they are not to be shown in Europe, for
privacy reasons I suppose. Anyway there is a Catholic church archive where
typed copies are available in Vechta. I'll let someone else tell you about them,
because I have only used the microfilms (in Canada).
I have found many people with the last name Albers in the records of Damme,
Oldenburg. The only one in my genealogical program is a woman from the 1700s.
However, I can see if there is a Frederik who was born 13.11.1816 when I get
back to my local Family History Center. I have all the Damme films and quite
a few others on permanent loan. It may take me a couple of weeks to get back
there. At least if he's not there you'll know where not to look.
