To all my dear friends on the list: While I agree with Fred that Maurice's preaching was a bit much, c'mon Fred - 'tis the season-- it is Christmas, after all. So I, too, want to wish all my friends on the list the very Merriest Christmas ever - and good genealogical hunting in the New Year.
Eine sehr frhliche Weihnachten an allen meinen Freunden und glckliche Familienforschung im Neuen Jahre.

It might be the season but there are 720 readers on
this list. If everybody wishes everybody else a Merry
Christmas over 1/2 a million messages will be
generated. That's why I asked for some thought.
The space for the archives and the list itself are,
after all, paid for by the members of the German
Genealogical Computing Society in our annual dues.
The internet might seem free, but in reality somebody
always pays.
A sensible thing to do would be to temporarily add a
Merry Christmas to you signature and post a response
to a question or even ask one. Then at least you've
stuck to the purpose of the list: genealogy.
Fred
