Dear Stephanie,
Gnoien was the last residence listed on my GGparents emigration from Germany in March 1871. In spite of finding them on the passenger list, I have been unable to locate them in any church records for the area. Please keep the surname TOEWE in mind while researching in that vicinity. You are the first other researcher that I have seen with an interest in Gnoien. The given names were August TOEWE and Caroline geb. HAGEN. Their children included Bertha b. abt. 1855, Robert b. abt. 1860, Johanna b. abt. 1862, Carl b. abt.1864, August (jr.) b. abt. 1867, Herman, b. abt. 1869 all "born in Prussia."

She doesn't seem to fit with my Trost research, yet, but who knows maybe one
day we can connect them?

I will definately keep the Toewe/Hagen names in mind. Hopefully everything
will go ok and I finally get to go back to Germany for a cpl of weeks next
year. I am planing on doing a bit of a hands on research( Churchbooks etc)
while visiting.
Do you have the Census/Immigration copies for August Toewe and family?
I did a quick search with Ancestry and if you want(or not already have
them), I can email you the Census/Immigration copies

a while back we have mailed each other about genealogy research in the
Gnoien area.
A few month ago I emailed to the Townhall in Gnoien and they actually helped
me look up some information on my research. I thought that if you didn't
mail them already this might be of help for you as well.
The woman in charge of town registration,birth certificates etc is Frau
Rettberg and her E-mail Address is

I am not sure if she speaks English but if you would like I can help you
translate a mail for her/you.
