Re: "Lötz", Mecklenburg-where is it?

Burkhard,
Perhaps you or others could suggest where I might write to find the
birth date for
Johann Friederike Daniel Theodor ZARNDT. He was christened 17 Sep 1837 in
Alt Panstorf, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany.
I am hoping to discover that he is my grandfather known as Frederick
Theodor "Fritz" Zarnt, b. 10 Sept. 1837, Mecklenberg. He emigrated to New
York & Iowa in 1864.
         Thank you for any help.

Jo--What is the source of the christening information? Most christening records
also list the birthdate, although sometimes it's hard to find! b and c

The only sources we have are the church records. The main aim of the
church was
to
register the date of christening, not the date of birth. However, in
many cases
both
dates are given, sometimes difficult to read. So, you could scan it and
send it
in
order that others, like me, could give a try. In general, the
christening
happened
a few days after birth that your 2 dates fit perfect together.
However, in Johann Friederike Daniel Theodor ZARNDT the second name
should be a miswriting. It certainly should be Friedrich. Friederike is
clearly
female !
