Don't jump to a conclusion that the writing was poor. It may have been good, but with characters which you do not recognize.
For an instance, the lower case "u". In most of the old German script, the lower case "u" has an accent mark above it, like, but not necessarily an umlaut. If your "u" does not have an accent, you may want to reevaluate your "Qu".
Maybe there is someone on the LIST to whom you can send a copy for evaluation. That is if you have a scanner. I don't believe you can post that kind of attachment on the LIST, so you would have to send it directly to someones e-mail.
