Thank you, Hans Peter Albers, for that info. My hindrence was searching the name "Kilsmanseege" and "Kielsmanseege". Using "Kielmansegg" I find much to look through on the google search engine.....even finding that in the Kingdom of Hanover, there was a minister/president from 1853-1862 with the name Kielmansegg. I am so excited....something to go on!!!
Barbara asked about "Helene Feind(t). I have no connection I know of to a Feind(t) by that name. My Eduard came to America from Hanover in about 1867-1868 with his young wife, Louisa Bartmann. They lived with Eduard's brother, Julius, until they took a homestead in 1873, a farm that remains in the family to this day. Julius had come from Hanover, arriving in America on 4 May, 1859. His name on the ship manifest was spelled "FEINDT", but he did drop the ending 't' within years of arrival. There were 3 other "Feindt"s listed after Julius on the manifest: John. Feindt, age 25, Geo. Feindt, age 19 and Leonht. Feindt, age 16. I have tracked many other Feind and Feindt families in America, but I have not positively found those 3 that traveled with Julius. I have found no other connections between those 3 and Julius. At the time he died in 1909, the only living relatives listed in Julius' probate file include his brother Eduard's children, and a nephew that came to America in
1900 from Hanover (Heinrich Meyer)....so, Eduard and Julius must have had a sister that married a Mr. Meyer.
By the way, that brings up another clue I've had trouble with. Heinrich (and Doris)Meyer's children were most definitely born in Hanover, but the city of last residence that is given on the ship manifest in 1900, I've had trouble with..."Apke". Ellis Island records have it transcribed as "Apke", and looking at the actual manifest available on-line, I come up with that also. However, using several map searches, the closest I could come to a real city was "Arpke". Can someone suggest an on-line map they've had luck with?
Thanks!

Hello Your Royal Highness!
I hope you've read Jane Swan's message already!
There is a town of Arpke which is east of the city of Hannover,
northeast of Lehrte. There are several Meyers in the German phone book
today, but I would imagine there are several Meyers just about anywhere!
Use mapquest.com and you will see it.

Oh lord, now there may be two. Wasn't Rena enough?
