Re Help deciphering

Hi Suzanne S.Q. (I really don't want to speak about dentists today, I just ate a chocolate)

as I wrote, is the profession in front of the name to differ the Johann Meyer's.
If the recipient moved to a new house and the postman cannot deliver the letter, the letter goes back to the sender.
There is no street or house number given in the sender address. When there are 2 Johann Meyer in the same town, the postman can decide who the letter sent (Eigner Meyer).
Didn't you know: germans don't have humor!

If you want to have more information, please write a mail.

For the Kamphaus (not Kemphaus) family from Uptloh, I have to do a little search, but I think that the family lived in the house named "Museborg" ("mouse castle").

You wrote about the Macke family in our guestbook. Can you tell me something about this family?

@Fred: As you can see, I also don't show my titles. There are some people who need this, but you cannot explain to our U.S. friends, that someone who has a tilte will show it. This is a wrong image about the germans! You will also find the same number of persons in the U.S. who need it.

But for your pleasure I will show my preferred title:

Dear Bernd,

Luckily for you, the cocoa in chocolate fights Karies ......however, there
is still sugar to cause problems. (A bit of trivia from my trove of
barely-useful dental facts)

Thank you for the information about the Lampings of Addrup, and thank you
for correcting my spelling on Kamphaus, and offering to do a search for
them, as well. These are all relatives of my first cousins. My interest here
is that practically every Catholic German-American family in the Greater
Cincinnati area seems to originate from our one tiny primarily-rural region
of Germany, so there may also be a reasonable chance that a lot of us are
all related to one another in some way, don't you think?

Thank you, also, for offering to help with other research. My own Macke
relative was Katherina Macke nee Hübener.
She may have been from Quakenbrück because her brother Richard Hübener
reported on one US census that he was from there, but she must have married
an Oldenburger because her daughter reported this as her place of birth on
another US census. As Fred pointed out in one of his e-mails to the Liste,
those immigrants were very specific about whether they were from Hannover or
Oldenburg when given the opportunity.
Katherina Hübener * 21-Sep-1858 + 14-Oct-1911.
She immigrated to the US on 8-Sep-1883 as the widow of Hermann Johann Macke.
We know of two of their children who also emigrated to the US:
Anna Mary Catherine Macke *08-Jun-1857 in Oldenburg + 5-Nov-33 in
Louisville, KY
oo 07-Jun-1883 in Louisville, KY to Hermann Heinrich Schnieders
Hermann Johann Macke, Jr. * Apr-1883.
He immigrated to the US on 8-Sep-1883 with his mother (and my g-grandfather
Gerh. Hehgemühle)

It would be really wonderful if you were able to access information about
this family!!!
Many thanks,
Suzanne

PS I checked out the link to the photograph with your daughter. Sweet!

Hi,

I found a family photo made in Cincinnati around 1890.
I think on this photo is Johann Theodor Joseph Rbke-Stadtsholte who emigrated to the US in 1873. He was born 1848 in Addrup near Essen, Oldenburg area.
I wonder if I can find descendants of this family.
Can anyone help me find a society or a person who can help me?

Kind regards
Bernd

You can check the OSGA web page, it is a page dedicated to Oldenburg descendants.

I can't find this page.

Hello --

I live in Cincinnati. I looked at our online phone book and found the names Bloemer and Robke, but not Stadtsholte. You may be able to pull up the online listing from outside the country. The address is www.cinbell.com. Click on "white pages" at the very bottom, right-hand side of the screen and type in the last name. This will give you the list of anyone in the area who has a listed "land line." If this doesn't work, let me know and I'll attach a .pdf file that contains the names, addresses, and phone numbers. At least it is a place to start.

In addition, we have the Hamilton County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. That address is www.hegsohio.org The phone number is 513-956-7078. If I come across more information, I'll post it as well.
