Re: Hannover-L Nachrichtensammlung, Band 26, Eintrag 51

Dear JB, Thank you for your response. I hired a researcher in BERLIN LAST YEAR and he spent a year running down all the leads I HAD FROM FAMILY HERE. ALL FALSE. hE FOUND THE RECORD OF jOHANN LEAVING Friedland and going to
Berlin. Everything else fits to my grandfather who left BERLIN IN1873 to the USA.I tried reading the records from BERLIN ORIGINALLY but all I did was get frustrated. The researcher sent me regular GERMAN RECORDS FROM THE EVANGELICAL church in BERLIN. If I don't find enough help from this web site I guess I will have to have someone else do it . Any more suggestions? Adele

Well then, do you mostly need a translator for your documents? Is that what you are primarily seeking?

Or is it suggestions about Friedland area researching? Or both?

Once this is a bit clearer, I'm sure folks here could suggest further ideas on what to do. Have you tried the LDS online site yet for catalogued holdings (films and publications) for Friedland for starters, as previously suggested?

Dear JB, Thank you for your response. I hired a researcher in BERLIN LAST YEAR and he spent a year running down all the leads I HAD FROM FAMILY HERE. ALL FALSE. hE FOUND THE RECORD OF jOHANN LEAVING Friedland and going to Berlin.

So all 'false' except for this Johann link (all's well that ends well then?) wow

Everything else fits to my grandfather who left BERLIN IN 1873 to the USA.

OK so you're confident this is a true (correct) connection, correct?

I tried reading the records from BERLIN ORIGINALLY but all I did was get frustrated. The researcher sent me regular GERMAN RECORDS FROM THE EVANGELICAL church in BERLIN. If I don't find enough help from this web site I guess I will have to have someone else do it .

So I assume the researcher sent you these findings raw and non-translated? Did you inquire if he/she could either transcribe or summarize them? If this is part of the hang-up, then there are avenues to correct this. Simply confirm, and we'll go from there (still have no idea if these are in the old Fraktur style script, as will probably be the case. Do you know?). In either case, remedies exist to correct this situation! Even free ones (via translation services). Let us know.

Any more suggestions? Adele

Yes, two. It is always best to stick to your original SUBJECT thread or line when posting [in your case, Arend HW Fischer], as this makes follow-ups easier; plus keep related messages better organized and chronicled in the H-L Archives for future researchers who may come upon them. Also, when replying directly to Nachrichtensammlung [digest mode] messages, make sure to edit your return reply to eliminate most (if not all) of the trailers (accompanying messages). If not, posts run unnecessarily long.
