My research for my Mother's side of the family is in and around Ankum. I
have not been able to find families with 3 different last names leaving this
area and arriving in the U.S. The time frame is 1839 to 1842 and the names
are Buehne, Hinkamp and Middeke. My trip to Germany at Christmastime and
searching in 3 different archives produced no results. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Pat Huck
Hi Pat:
The LDS Family History Center has the following fort
Ankum.
Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1810-1874 Katholische Kirche Ankum
(Kr. Bersenbr?P> Kirchenbuchduplikat, 1822-1874
Evangelische Kirche
Germany, Preuen, Hannover, Ankum - Taxation
They are microfilms and you would have to look at them.

Hello Pat,
Just for starters - if you run a search on the LDS site with only
the name Middeke and nothing else, you will come across Middekes from
Gehrde, Langen, Badbergen, and Ankum. The LDS have records for all but
Langen, but those people probably went to church in Badbergen.
That is not to say that your own ancestors with that name will be
definitely be there, but it does look probable. Do you live near an LDS
Center where you can order and view microfilms? That is doing it the hard
way, but it's better than nothing.
Barbara
Pat,
The LDS have Hinkamps in Badbergen, Hertmann, and Bersenbrück. No LDS
records for Hertmann and Bersenbrück unfortunately.
I haven't found indication of Buehne in that same area in Hannover,
but that certainly doesn't mean there aren't any.
Are these the people who are listed in Breese, Clinton County,
Illinois?
