Some errors are traditioned. Although I don`t want you to bring on already gone ways, something must be wrong, if "Lahe" cannot be found nearby Osnabrück. Did you take into consideration "Rahe", which is about 6 km North-South of the centre of Osnabrück and in a distance of 1 and a half km West from "Belm" ?

And besides for completing the different "Lage": I find "Gartlage" nearby a church "St.Gertrud" as part of the town of Osnabrück and 15km more south in direction on "Bad Laer" - "Laer" is also not in your list of similarities - "Groß Hartlage" und "Klein Hartlage".
Did you write to the Osnabrück town archive (Stadtarchiv)? They should know best, if there has been a local name "Lahe", which now has vanished.
If "Kreis" as an administration unit is a matter of fact, one should not count with places more than about 50km away from the city. the average distance from the centre of the city should be less than 25km In 1996 the Land-"Kreis" had an extent of 2122 km² and 344.200 inhabitants, not including the city of Osnabrück with additional 167.700 inhabitants. Not knowing the exact borderings extracting the root mathematically of about totally 2500 sqare-km this account may help narrowing the research territory.
