Re: Hannover-L Nachrichtensammlung, Band 12, Eintrag 8

Hello, Gina - taking you up on your generous offer: I have 28 Apr 1848
Marriage license Jo Daviess Co., IL for Charles Wishmear/Wishmean and Ellena
Loremear. "Ellena Loremear" was actually Eleonore or Lenore Lohmeier, and
Wishmean/Wishmear is Wishmeier/Wischmeier, most often seen as
Wishmire, -mier, -meir, etc. Lenore's birth name was Christine Sophie
Leonore Lohmeier with all the same variants, -mier, -meir, etc.

They had a son, Charles, born in Feb 1849 and Charles Sr., (Carl) died in
June, 1949. Would appreciate anything you find about Lenore or father,
Anton Lohmeier and brothers Anton and Frederich Lohmeier.

Thank you much. It is a beautiful fall day in California. Carole

If you have folks that were married in Illinois, give me their names and I
can look them up on the all-Illinois index at IRAD, the Illinois Regional
Archives Depository. It's only about 10 minutes from my house and it's

free.

I was just wondering whether one could find out more by going to IRAD than one can find online in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index:
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/marriage.html

For example, I just copied this from that site:
WISHMEAR, CHARLES LOREMEAR, ELLENA 04/28/1848 004/0041 JO DAVIESS

- Judy (in sunny St. Louis)

Thanks Judy,
As I said in another reply, I haven't seen anything on line for Illinois because I haven't been working on Illinois for quite a while. I am back to Germany on almost all my lines so I spend most of my time on listserves. To answer your question, yes there is much more at IRAD than you will find onine, but the indexes themselves may be even more complete than what we used to have at IRAD. What Carbondale has that online sites cannot have are the actual documents for an enormous amount of individuals who lived in southern Illinois. I found the box of my gggrandpa's estate papers, and therefore his signature and those of a number of my relatives. I also found the whole inventory of the cigar store that was in our family at the time of another ancestor's death. Fascinating!
Draw a line almost straight out to the east from St. Louis and everything south of that line (if I remember correctly) could be documented at IRAD if the county allowed it to be transferred.

But thanks a ton for the Illinois site.
