My Gorba family was from OstPrussia in Neidenburg (now Bochum)
was Burdungen in 1870.....these name changes are mind boggling !
My grandfathers baptismal record is in Jedwabno...and a German researcher
told me that Friedrich William's parents were Mike Gorba and Anen Jeske..
I was named for her......but didn't know her maiden name; the family has always
known Mike Gorba was our p.great grandfather. ( This researcher also told me
Gorba was Gurba [before] in this area). Check out these sites.............................

The application for naturalization records are in Cambria County, Pa. for my
grandfather and it gave his birth place and a lot of other information. He was born
16th. June 1870.
He left Antwerp, Belgium on the 12th. October 1894 and arrived at the port of
Philadelphia on the 24th. October 1894 on the Vessel Illinois (which made 9 crossings
that year) at the age of 24.....having completed his military service to William the 2nd,
German Emporer. His last place of foreign residence was Gelsenkirchen and he was
going to join his father Mike Gorba in Ehrenfeld, Pa. (Cambria County)
I have found Jeske , Jescke...etc in Bessarabia.....perhaps the Korbe families there
are related as well. My father said his family had Spits,Spitz (sp, ? ) in it and one of his
relations had married a woman from Bulgaria.
I am now searching for information on Mike and Anen (Jeske) Gorba; parents, birth
and baptism records, families and burial places in Germany.
