I would like to thank all the members of this list that responded to my German Surname Question here and to me privately. Your responses have given me a much better understanding of the written and spoken German language and why the written differences occur; with a geography lesson thrown in for good measure. I have a growing appreciation of my German heritage. Your replies brought more than one smile to my face.
