RE: Fritz Reuter's books

I have noticed that one of Fritz Reuter's books entitled "Ut Mine Stromtid"
is referred to in several different English titles 1) "My Years As A Farmer",
2) Seed-Time & Harvest" 3) During My Apprenticeship". Are all three of these
titles referring to the same Reuter book (Ut Mine Stromtid)? Was Ut Mine
Stromtid written in several volumes or just one book? Book searches have
come up with "Reuter's Works - 4 volume Set." Could this be the Ut Mine
Stromtid book?

Are Ut Mine Festungstid (Seven Years of my Life) a name of one of the volumes
in the "Ut Mine Stromtid" series?

And where does "When the French Were Here" fit into to all of this?

Were any of Reuter's other writings re: Mecklenburg translated to English?

Hello Julie

"Ut mine Stromtid" is a novel of Fritz Reuter which is translated into high
German as "Aus meiner Tagelhnerzeit" (lit.: "From my time as a day
laborer"). A "Stromer" was a day laborer.

It was published in three volumes in the period from 1862 - 1864. After
being released from seven years in prison in 1840 [described in a different
autobiographical novel "Ut mine Festungstid"(Festung = fortress; "From my
time in the fortress", published in 1862)] Reuter tried to build a new
living as a apprentice in agriculture. From this time he got his knowledge
of the blatant contrasts between land lords and day laborers in
Mecklenburg's countryside.

"Ut de Franzosentid" (When the french were here") is a novel published in
1859. It describes the time of the napoleonic liberty wars in his hometown
Stavenhagen.
