Dear Elke: Thank you for replying to my request.
I can sympathise with your feelings about having to flee ahead of the
Soviet barbarians, and about the loss of your home.
Fortunately for me, my Grandparents left Germany in1882. Grandfather was
born in East Prussia, near Angerburg, and Grandmother was born in West
Prussia near Gross Mausdorf. It saddens me that the places where my
forebears had lived for centuries are now under foreign occupation.
The stories that you and others can tell about the horrors of the 1945 to
1947 period, or so, should be told loud and clear so that the victimization
of the eastern Germans will be well documented. I have several books about
the subject, but the stories should be told from the point of view of those
who had personally experienced the horrors.
Genealogy isn't only about collecting names. Their history is just as
important.
