In your email you state that you are from Lancaster, Penn. so you are
probably a descendent of the Pensilvanian dutch. This evening I therefore checked
the phone-directories of Germany, Holland, Austria and Switzerland, but much
to my regret, there's nothing like Nohrenhold. I tried T-ending etc, I tried
Nordenhold/t, but to no avail. Maybe the scandinavian countries are worth a
try, as in those days in the 18th century the people were fleeing from one
end to the other within Europe in order to avoid the fighting troops. I shall
therefore keep your quest on hand.
On the other hand it might be a misspelling. The ending hold/ holt you find
in most european countries. It might even be possible that it is a mispelling
of Nordenskjoeld which is a common name in Scadinavia especially in the
military.
