Hi Michael, Michelau is called today Michalow, County Brieg, province of Opolskie. The family from there [Michno or Bretschneider] was catholic and the one from Ziegenhals were probably Luthern. The pictures of Ziegenhals I have found on the web show a double steepled church. My husband remembers going there with his grandmother when he was a toddler.
Both Ziegenhals and Michelau are located south of Warsaw. My husband lived for several years in Graase, county Falkenberg before they moved to the Eastern part of Germany and they escaped before the wall went up. The family moved to America in 1954.
