Hello Mrs. Baker,
I found this: Herford/Adressbuch 1864/01 – GenWiki
You should look for Metzer, Schlachter, Fleischer = butcher
Familyname Baker in German: Bäcker, Becker, Beker
I wish you much success.

Hello all
Unfortunately I was unable to locate my family on the list of businesses for 1864.
Are marriages, births etc available for Herford? 1872
Lyn Baker
Australia
Hello Lyn,
for protestantic people, church books should be available at
<[1]www.archion.de>
I have an account and could look into the registers. Please send me
what exactly you are looking for. As Herford had more than one churches
it would be helpful if you also send the living place of your
ancestors.
Regards
Frank
Thankyou so much for your offer Frank.
On Arthurs marriage certificate in 1910 in Australia he states his father is William Henry Baker (a butcher), and his mother unknown.
His request for naturalisation says born 17 September 1872 in Herford Germany.
Regards
Lyn Baker
