Hi Linda,
Where did you get the book? Do you know of any others? Obviously, if those
ASCHE names are ancestors, they have moved from Nordrebber at some point.
My earliest confirmed location here in the US for my g-grandfather Heinrich
ASCHE is 1850 in Worth Twp., south of Chicago. He next appears in 1869 in
DuPage Co. in Addison Twp. in his will and probate papers. His father is
Wilhem ASCHE and his brother is also Wilhelm. Wilhem was apparently a friend
or business associate of August Graue, because they built the Graue Mill
together, but Wilhem moved further north in DuPage to Addison Twp. at some
point.
I have seen other people's charts on the web and they have also traced this
family and show them as being from Engehausen and Stockendrebber. I have
found nothing to prove this, though. Also, I keep hoping that if I find the
towns they came from, I might also stumble upon the location of the family
Heinrich's daughter Emma married into - the AHLENSTORFs. My g-grandfather
Heinrich AHLENSTORF lists Hannover as his birthplace and of course that is
not specific enough. The AHLENSTORFs settled in Itasca.
Sorry to make this so long. Just wondering if there any other books such as
the one you mentioned and where they can be found.
Thanks so much for your response,
Anne
