Re: Arend Heinrich Wilhelm Fischer

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone out there is looking to help me with my problem I have only limited information on Arend Heinrich Wilhelm Fischer. He was probably born about 1800. He was a tax collector in (Freidland) Hannover. Wife unknown. One known son called Johann Georg Wilhelm born about 1825. He removed to Berlin where he married a Emma Charlotte Dettmers in 1854.Please help me. I don't read or speak German so the records look like spaghetti to me I simply can't read them.Thank you for any help. If I have to I will hire a researcher but I need some names. Hello Adele Hynes,

your problem starts with the place name "Freidland".

There is a Fr i e dland nearby Göttingen with 11 FISCHER in 1998. The postal address of the Lutheran Church is

Evangelische Pfarrämter
Friedland

37133 Friedland

a telephone nr. is 05504-437

The Catholic Church:

katholisches Pfarramt
Friedland

37133 Friedland

tel. 05504-493

I think if wanted the local communities will know who might do your researches or are able to do it right away themselves.

Good Luck

This begs the obvious question: have you documented the Fischers from this point forward (perhaps in the US?), or is this a German-side only research quest? Besides the smart Freidland > to > Friedland suggestion already made, have you perused the LDS online site to see what records may be available for this area?

What records do you refer to being spaghetti like? Could these be in the older style Fraktur or Suetterlin (Suetterlinschrift)? Latin perhaps? Also playing no favorites (thus in alphabetical order), these professional researchers in the Hannover area have long time connections to H-L (all are well versed in English too). I believe their e mail addresses are still current.

A little more background on where you are at in your research might help here also.
