Forgive me for writing this message in English, but my German is too rusty to be comprehensible. I am hoping there will be enough English readers on the list to find one who may have some information about my family name: Radewagen. My great grandfather was born in the town of Loebau, which is is Saxony hard on the Silesian border. I have reason to believe his forebears would have come from Silesia. If there is anyone on this list who reads English who has information on the name Radewagen, I would be pleased to hear from you.
Fred Radewagen
Hello Fred,
how about your reading German.... ??!?
Have a look here concerning the origin of this name => Radewagen (Familienname) – GenWiki
(see under "Varianten")
Todays (2002 ...) distribution of ths name you can find under => http://christoph.stoepel.net/geogen/en/Default.aspx
... very localized appearance ...
Greetings
Hanno (V.J.Kolbe)
Thank you, Hanno. I can still read enough German to catch the drift, but my son is better at it so I am sending this off to him. After all, he is the last one in this country to carry the name, which does not appear to be very common even in Silesia or Saxony.
Fred
