Special characters for German that I use.

Make sure your NumLock is on and use the numbers from the keypad.

ALT 131 = â
ALT 132 = ä
ALT 134 = å
ALT 142 = Ä
ALT 160 = á
ALT 129 = ü
ALT 154 = Ü
ALT 148 = ö
ALT 153 = Ö
ALT 225 = ß
ALT 165 = Ñ
ALT 164 = ñ

I got this from another list.

I have a tool called German Assistant on my computer, which will enter the a, o, and u, upper or lower case, with an umlaut and also the double-s as . I think I got the link for it on the Ostfriesen list. I can't find the URL for where I got it, but I do still have the installation file on my hard drive if anyone wants it. It is a very very small program, a small character map containing only those characters. When you "turn it on," it locates itself at the top of your screen and stays put there and visible in whatever program you are working in. You use it just like the Windows Character map: You click the character you want, put your curser where you want that character in your document, and paste.

I'm signing off for the night, but if anyone wants the program, I will be happy to send it in the morning.

I'd love to have it.
Thanks for the information and the offer!

Most kind of you.

The URL for this nifty little tool is:

Scroll down to German Assistant.

I use this, too. It's really handy.
