Question as to where is Angerlo/Arnhem during time period of 1870-1883?

My Blom family came from Angerlo or Arnhem, Gelderland, Netherlands. This was found on obit and census records. Yet, on the naturalization records(last of the three that were recorded) it is recorded as giving up allegiance to Emporer of Germany. I don't have good knowledge about what was happening in the Netherlands during the 1870-1883 time period. Anyone out there that can help me? Thank you. DB

When I went to the below address, it came up with Ger Com and the web

Darlene,

I think this is the correct address:

Thank you for sending a new address. Your instructions were helpful. I
believe that quite a few are my Blom family. I am not familiar with the
words so am guessing that Geboorte means birth. I don't know what Overl.
means. Gemeente, I assume, means town/city. Do you know if there are any
web sites for Angerlo/Arnhem area of the Netherlands. I would be interested
in learning about the area and following up this information that you helped
me with. Again, thanks. DB

Darlene,

Some links:

And
http://www.achterhoek-liemers.nl/

The archive of the province of Gelderland now:

The generic Dutch online civil records online is ( I think the marriages for Angerlo
can also be found on this site but I am not sure) also in English
http://www.genlias.nl
And a good site with most online resources in the Netherlands: (english)

There is an email list for gelderland
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gelderland-genealogy/
Here is a list of archives of the Province Gelderland
http://directory.google.com/Top/World/Nederlands/Naslag/Archieven/Regionaal/Nederland/Gelderland/
(not all links work)

huw. (huwelijk) = marriage
overl. (overleden) = deceased, died
geb., (geboren) = born
geboorte = birth
gem. (gemeente) = usually town or city also municipality
Search screen:
soort akte = type of certificate/record
achternaam = surname
voorname = first name
start zoeken = start searching
bevat = contains
begint met = begins with
eindigt op = ends with
is gelijk aan = is equal to

That should get you started with your research!
