Pulsfort

Hello,

I am looking for the parents of Frank Pulsfort. He was born in Oldenburg on
30 Oct 1853. He came to the US about 1872. On 16 Jan 1877 he married
Katherine Losekamp in Campbell County, Kentucky, USA. Katherine Losekamp was
born in 1857 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. After having 5 children, Katherine
died between 1895-1904. In 1904 Frank Pulsfort married his second wife Mary
Kinter of Cincinnati, Ohio. Frank Pulsfort died 22 Apr 1936 in Campbell
County, Kentucky.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Nancy Cutter

Nancy,

My g-g-grandfather was born Johannes Pulsfort, but changed his last name to Grote, apparently after marrying a girl named Grote. Off the top of my head I think he was born in about 1850, would have to look it up. I take it she inherited the farm from her folks and money talked back then just like today (I'd gladly change my last name to Winfrey should Oprah be looking to get hitched!).

Anyway, these Pulsforts came from Oythe, which I believe is now a suburb of Vechta. I have some limited info about the Pulsfort ancestors if you see a connection. I once was in contact with the descendants, who I believe now own a Pulsfort Corporation in Vechta today.

Hello Nancy,

the origin of the Pulsfort is a farm in Bakum(parish), part Carum(Harme).
But 1845 emigrated also Pulsfort couple from Dinklage - check castlegarden.org

For Losekamp and Kinter I have not an idea.

Werner

Hello Christina,

Thank you very much for the link.

I don't speak German, and didn't see a way to translate the text, but did enjoy looking at some of the photos, and even saw a picture of the Pulsfort home!
