Probst

Hi Ernie
I have been plugging away at my Probst family for a few years, not manically, but having little digs every now and then!
Very interesting that you have the names in the right areas.
For my Probst line you have as much information as I can give you. I went to Schillingsfurst and went into the house where my Grandfather was born and lived till he emigrated to the UK. Also with my cousin we went to Heilbronn bie Feuchtwangen and stood on the site where the house in which my gggf Johann Thomas Probst lived.
The Rosler and Endlein connections are from my ggf Johann Martin Probst. He married 3 times, JMP married Eva Margaretha Rosler 13.02.1870, she was born Insingen 31.07.1842, died in child birth 06.12.1873. Her mother was Barbara Katherina Rosler (not married), presumably from Insingen. JMP second wife was Rosina Endlein married 05.07.1874, she was born 13.03.1838 in Haundorf and died 20.03.1886, her parents were Johann Friedrich Endlein and Rosina Liebig presumably from Haundorf. JMP third wife was Elizabetha Salzner from Wurzburg her mother was Anna Sophia Salzner. It seems incredible that we are researching similar names in the area around the same dates, got to do a bit more digging!!!
Jim Smith, lives in USA, is also researching his Probst ancestors in the Feuchtwangen area and has a comprehensive list of names, try him on jrsmith@up-link.net. A chap called Bruno Bauernschmidt sent me loads of Probst details from the area and when I get time I will fish through to see if there might be any link for you.
All the best from wet and cold Cornwall
Pete
