I have a somewhat unique problem that I hope someone has a suggestion
for solving. A German emigrant lady lives here in my retirement
complex who says she can read old German script, in fact she studied
it. So here is a great opportunity for translations. At the local LDS
library I found some records that are pertinent to my search. However
the copying machine is broken and when asked when it would be
repaired the reply was a shrug. (The staff is all volunteers). I
tried to take pictures of my findings with a digital camera and while
the result was pretty good, the resolution was not good enough to
read. One of the problems was that the projected copy is on a slanted
surface and I wound up with less than good pictures. The nearest LDS
library is 100 miles away in Atlanta which is an option but not a
good one. And you know the film cannot be removed from the library
even if there was an alternate local site with a copier (library?).
Hi Max:
Can you provide the record (identification, number, name, etc)? If it
is not available online, I might make it over to Oakland FHL within the
next week or so and I might be able to obtain a copy there.

Hi PJ:
I don't believe that any of the film readers have that capability.
It would be nice if this film has been converted to electronic media.
I don't know if the film Max is looking at has been converted.
Taking a picture of an projected image is difficult. If your camera is
squared directly over the projected image, it is also directly in the
path of the projected light.

Is it not possible to copy the material on to a flash drive? Or is
that the machine you mean is broken?
Good luck !
