May I give my today's summary of the BROCKMANN discussion?
My direct ancestor ("Spitzenahn") is:
BROCKMANN, Anna Sophie Marie (Meine Quelle sagt Soph.)
b: ca. 1775
([a] Jean NAYLOR, Denver / Colorado, is a descendant of Dr. Carl
BROCKMANN:
He emigrated, after he had been der fhrende Student an der Uni Rostock in
der 1848er Revolution; er wird in der Geschichte der Uni genannt.
[b] Heike CARLSSON and many others are descendants of Frantz BROCKMANN im
Raum Mecklenburgische Schweiz, Schfer, ca.1750 in Sarnow.
one more footnote: Im now looking for a Wilhelm Brockmann and a Christine
Brockmann- they lived in 1857/1861 in Rostock, being godfather/mother of my
grgrandmothers brothers and sisters...
Best regards, Heike
[c] There is a Philipp Adolph Michael BROCKMANN according to the 1819
census
from Parchim he was born in 1743 in Wissoke in the Ukraine. Now what this
German family would have been doing in Russia at that time is a mystery.
In
1770 when he was married he lived in Schwerin and was a Reiter
(cavalryman).
In 1792 he was back in Schwerin as a Holzinspektor of Wadewiese. Philipp's
son, Friederich, took over that position when he retired.
[d] There is a Christian Friedrich BROCKMANN who was a coachman in Raben
Steinfeld near Schwerin. Later he was a Seevogt and attended the
Schlosskirch in Schwerin. Christian was probably born about 1770 but I
don't
know where. He died in 1817.
Is one of these branches related to my Anna BROCKMANN??)
She lived in Rostock / Duchy = Hzm Mecklenburg-Schwerin / Hlg Rm Reich Dt
Nation
She was married to my ancestor:
GAEDT, Christoph(er) Johann
b: ca. 1770
Schneider-Meister in Rostock / Mecklenburg
Who solves the "Gordischen Knoten"?
Best wishes,
Peter

I have no ancestors with this name but some of you who do might be
interested
in the following.
One of my relatives Maria Charlotte Dorothea BROCKMANN had as one of her
godparents; Fraulien Charlotte von PRESSENTIN from Neustadt-Glewe, a
noblewoman. The Christening took place in Neustadt, April 2, 1830. I have
always been curious about the Pressentin connection to my Brockmann
family.
