Greetings from U.S.A.
I am in hopes that you can read my English.
I found your website on the internet as I was researching information
about my grandfather's family history.
Can you please help me.
I do not know much about my grandfather's past and am trying so hard to
learn for myself and my family, but am not having much luck finding
information here in the U.S.
My grandfather was born in Berneck, Bavaria, Germany on November 26,
1875. He came to the U.S. in 1890 aboard the SS Karlsrhue.
Family tells me that he may have changed his surname slightly upon his
arrival here, but I am not sure of that.
The name that I have is Bernhardt Guntow.
An internet friend from Bavaria has tried to help me on information
about my grandfather's past, but I would like to see information that confirms
this is my real grandfather.
The information my friend has given me is that Bernhardt Guntow's mother
was Catherina Popp. Her father was Johann Popp, a shoemaker.
Catherina Popp married Georg Guntow, a joiner or cabinetmaker from
Lanzendord.
I would appreciate very much any help that you can give to me!
Sincerely,
Margaret Mitchell
