Popken or Napken

Hello Gene,
Johan Napken was my 11* great-grandfather from my Juilfs-line. Descendents moved to Möns, Rispel and later other places in the Harlinger Land. The Juilfs lived in Mammhusen, my grandmother, née Juilfs, was born in Esens.
The data over Napken are from the Leerhafe OSB which Walter Fleischauer was friendly enough to check for me.
It was rather uncommon back then to move so far away - from Friesoythe to Harlinger Land. I can just imagine that the move was caused by the reformation: perhaps Napkens had become Protestant and refused to return to the Catholic church which still is predominant in Friesoythe ?

Moin Heiko,
Thank you for your message. Johan Napken is my 13th great-grandfather
through the Eilts line (via Burmnken). Are you by any chance related to a
Helfried Juilfs (I believe living at or near Mammhusen)? His mother was an
Eilts--his grandfather, Johann Enno Eilts was a cousin to my grandmother,
Anna Gesina Eilts.
