I don't understand why my e-mail address is included in your message to
unsubscribe. What is going on?
When you subscribe to a site, you are sent back a notice that tells you that
you are subscribed. Then further down on the page, it also tells you how to
unsubscribe. Unsubscribing is done by a computer , automatically, when you
send your message to the correct address, which is:
OW-Preussen-L-request@genealogy.net with the word "help" typed in the
subject line, and nothing in the body of the message. You must know your
password to subscribe, and when you send the "help" message, you will get
all the info.

Because the message was sent to the list instead of to the unsubscribe
address. And you get the messages of the list. And every fifth or so
message from the list server includes the address of the receiver in the
form "From: XYList-l-bounces+YOUR-ADDRESS@genealogy.net" for
bounce-handling purposes.
