Dear Listers,
My Grandpa Stegelmeier used to tease my Grandma that she spoke an uneducated German, because she spoke Plattdeutsch. However, he probably spoke a dialect, too. She was born in Wesselburen in Holstein and he was born in Kirchberg bei Seesen in Braunschweig. However, his Father's family was from Westfalen and his Mother's Family from Sachsen.
I have a question about a little Fingerspiele that my Father used to repeat to us. It started like this, Die Kuckoo und die Tempelmuss, die seten beten loge, .............. und stuck die Muss im Loge. I think that this might be a Plattdeutsch Fingerspiele. Is anyone familiar with this one? It would be great to have the actual words, because I wrote it down the way it sounded.
Thanks. I want to share this with my extended Family and my children and grandchildren.
