Plate Surname In Westphalia

I need help in finding information on my ancestors in Westphalia.

Adolphus Josephus Plate b 28 May 1818 at Burgsteinfurt, emigrated to New York City with parents and siblings in around 1830. I was unable to locate his family records to date due to too many Plates with similar given names in this area at that time. Some of his family members settled in Wisconsin while he moved to San Francisco during the 1849 Gold Rush.

Some of the given names in his family were Augustus, Francis, Henry, Josephus, Josephine, Elizabeth and George.

Eltern: Adolph Plate oo Elis. Beckmann,
ausgewandert 1836 nach Amerika.
Sein Bruder Franz Heinrich ist 1832 nach Amerika ausgewandert!
