Place of Residence: "St...we"

Hello everyone,
My grandmother and her parents, Carl and Marie Hagen, came to the
U.S. on the ship Suevia, landing in NY May 1, 1893. Their place of
residence was listed as "St...we". Carl and Marie were married in
Russow, Mecklenburg in October 1890. Marie was born and raised in
Russow, between Wismar and Rostock, so I am assuming they did not go far
from there, as all her relatives were living in around Russow. I check
the Evangelical Lutheran Church records for Russow and could not find
my grandmother's baptismal records. She was born December 27, 1892. I
have searched the only maps that I have and cannot find anything that
resembles "St...we". If someone could help me to identify this place
perhaps there are other church records I can request to look for my
grandmother's information..
The first and only time I posted to this site I had success in
finding the family I was researching. Thank you to anyone who is able
to help me in this matter.

You need to check the civil records for that particular birthdate. It is
after the switch from Church to civil records.

I found baptisms in those church records as late as 1911, so my grandmother's
should be there, too. I will request the civil records, however. From the
family Bible I have her exact date of birth, but I also like to have further
documentation to back it up.

Hi Dorothy,

Could it be that Stove is the name of the place you're looking for? Most
unfortunately I'm not too much familiar with the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern area
but taking a look into my maps I found out that this Stove is not more than
10 kilometers away from Russow (if your Russow is near Neubukow) in southern
direction. It is to be hoped that someone will bear out my assumption
helping you on...

Ralf,
Yes, my Russow is near Neubukow. I really don't have a clue as to what the
"St...we" stands for, but there were a few of the relatives who lived in Alt
Bukow, to the south, and Zweedorf, to the north, so it is possible the Hagens
lived in Stove. All of them must have retained their membership in the Russow
church, though, because I can trace baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and
deaths in that church for many of the family members.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will check this out.
