There exist two parts: Mecklenburg-Strelitz and
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. > >
Both Mecklenburg were called "Mecklenburg-Schwerin" and "Mecklenburg-Strelitz". In the thirtees they were united.
Under the communist regime Mecklenburg was no administrative district, but only a geographical name.
After the "Wende" (turning-point) a new administrative district was founded including the former "Vorpommern" (Near(?)Pomerania).
"Hinterpommern" (Far(?) Pomerania) is part of Poland since 1945.
