Greetings.
My German 2nd-great grandfather is connected to the Medard/Odenbach area.
From DNA matches and what I can track down in church records, I am almost
positive I know who his parents are, but I can't locate the birth record to
prove it!
The likely parents were living in Medard, attending church in Odenbach,
then in 1822, two years before the birth of my 2nd-great grandfather,
(Johann) Jacob Amos, there is a change in boundaries, with a note in the
Odenbach KB that Medard is no longer covered in that book. I have been
completely unable on Archion to find which church might have continued on
with the records for any children born after 1822.
Here is a summary of what I know, and links to the available church records:
The children of Martin Amos and Catharina Gross in the Odenbach record:
- Martin Amos, born 16 April 1817
- Johann Georg Amos born 11 June 1819
- Heinrich Amos *[DNA match]*, born 14 March 1822
Speculations about these three others:
- Jacob Amos, born 28 Sep 1824 (my great-great-grandfather)
- Catherine Amos (Federmann), [*DNA match]* born 10 Aug 1827
- Elizabeth Catherine Amos (Mabis/Mebes) *[DNA match]* born 15 Aug 1832
Jacob, Catherine and Elizabeth all ended up in Franklin County, Indiana,
and Heinrich in a different part of Indiana. The DNA matches are very
strong, so this would indicate either siblings, or at least cousins.

Thank you so much for any ideas on how to move forward. Feel free to
respond in German. I know some German and also how to use Google Translate.
