PAULING aus Freedom Twp. and Concordia, Lafayette, Mo.,USA

Dear members of the list, especially those in the USA,

does anybody of you know how far Freedom TWP. and Concordia both Lafayette, Mo.
are distant of each others and perhaps can help to find someone for a local
research over there. The time is 1844 in Freedom Twp.and the 22.Jan. when William
Frederick Pauling was born. I am only interested in his parents and siblings, as
the descendents are known and for Charles Henry Pauling in Concordia, Lafayette,
Mo., who had a son there born 28.11.1876. Both might have been brothers. To find
out if really, is the aim of story. Also in the second case descendants are
known, some even very well. Thanks in advance for any help. Hans Peter Albers

That was the quickest answer I ever had. Thanks for that Barbara. Your informati-
on is the same I found on RootsWeb.com, what I missed to mention. To avoid too
much work invain checking through the 40 given Pauling there, I should tell you,
I went already through most of them there. But it is exactly the wife ..Ottilie
Bertha NINAS, who makes the things interesting for me. Her place of birth in
Posen leads very close to my Pauling's from my motherside who lived about 5o km
from that Glowno, Pudewitz, Posen, Germany. The given place "Ludwitz" on
Rootsweb.Com is probably an reading or writing error out of "Pudewitz". That is
the way I came around on this way of research. A lot of thanks for everything you
will find in advance. Greetings Hans Peter Albers

Each county names its own townships. There are several townships in Missouri with the name Freedom. Concordia, Missouri liegt in Freedom Township, Lafayette County. http://www.system.missouri.edu/whmc/invent/3905.html will direct you to St. John's Church records.

Hans Peter,
I found that the two Pauling men you mentioned are indeed brothers. I
found this on the Mormon website (www.familysearch.org). I hope that answers
your questions. Read below.

Hallo Hans:

Tough one. Only find on parents reads: Father-FREDERICK PAULING & Mother
Catherine no date BUT I also see a Frederick married to a PAULINE NUNAST on
4.7.1862 in Layfayette.

Son Willaim Fredericks wife was OTTILIE BERTHA NINAS, b. Prussia, per 1870
census and they were married 15.2.1867 in Layfayette, MO. Many children.
This was Freedom Twsp., in Layfayette Co. The Post Office was Concordia. The
1880 census shows them with 4 children at the same farm location excepting
the township is now known as East Freedom Twsp. An important piece of
information for further research is the Enumeration District which was 54
(i.e., State-Missouri>County-Layfayette>Township-East Freedom>Enumeration
District-54)
It also lists his fathers birthplace as Hannover and mother was born in
Missouri. My Stoltmanns are from Hannover>St. Louis, MO.

Their marraige certificate would probably have the parental information,
especially if they were married in a church. What was their religion? I'd
guess Lutheran.

Show William Fredericks death to be 10.5.1911

Only sibling found was:

      Charles Carl Henry Pauling
Birth: 12 July 1847-- Lafayette, Concordia, MO
         Death:
12 May 1919 -- Lake Oswego, Clackamas, OR
Spouse: Adelheit Adelheite Or Adelpheit Or Ade Blanken
         Parents: Frederick Pauling, Catherine

Good hunting
