Searching for inf ormation on Paul Vetter..born in Kohlscheid about 1898, his father was Mathius Vetter. Paul married Josephine Krichel on 5 Oct 1922, their son Walter Vetter was born in 1925 . This family came to the United States on the S/S HAMBURG , leaving Hamburg, Germany on 5 Feb 192 9 and settled in New York. Paul and Josephine were divorced about 1946, Paul returned to Germany and died 18 Nov 1971 in Kreiskrankenhaus, Wuerselen, Germany. His brother in law Fritz Seifert is listed on the death certificate.

Josephine Krichel born 1 Jan 1900 (isn't that a great date for a birthday) Josephine was born in Richterich and her siblings were Gertrude, Ida, Henrich, Peter and Marie. Josephine died in 1962 in New York.

They were of the Catholic faith. Are there church records available for that period of time?

Lindy, This will be of very little help in answering your question, but I have a Vetter in my line back in the mid 1700s somewhere around Kuchen, Germany. Agnas Vetter comes into my Groninger line when she married Abraham Groninger. Their daughter, Angelika Groninger, my direct ancestor, was born on 5 Sept 1776 in Kuchen, Germany.
