Passportlists (passportdirectories; passportcataloques)?

Hallo Liste!

Can somebody tell me if there are stored in the archives of Germany
people, who got a passport and travelled abroad in the 1930's from
Westfalen and - in this case - to Finland??? The trip to Finland must
have been around the time when the persecution of Jews started in Germany.

Best regards

Hi Tuulikki,

a passport was usually issued by the registration office of the city where the person lived. It is possible that lists of issued passports still exist in the resp. city archive. For a few cities those documents are microfilmed by the LDS (I know that from Paderborn in Westfalia). You may check for "Meldeamt" in the LDS film catalogue. But you need to know from which city the person came to Finland...
If there was a visa necessary to travel to Finland in those days, then the embassy might help you.

Regards,
Jan

Hi Tuulikki,
at first, sorry for my english...
If you look for a yewish person, and if it was in the later 30-years, you
can perhaps find something about financial transactions (declarations) or
visas in the state archives. I know this from hesse.

With best wishes
Corinna

Thank you very much!!
