Our Forum

Hello, friends,

did you visit our new forum lately ??

In existence for only three weeks and, in my opinion, it is quite successful already.

So far we had 1800 visitors and over 233 members signed up.

The number of "topics" is increasing steadily and the "girls" even created a series of
new topics with old German customs and delicious, mouth-watering recipes of
"goodies" your grandma' used to make..

Whenever you have some spare time come for a visit, look around and,
please participate with answers to the topics, creating new ones and let me know
what we should change and/ or improve..

Thanksgiving is approaching fast and I wish all of you a very happy and peaceful
Thanksgiving..

Have lots of turkey and stuffing, but.. watch your "waistline"..

All the BEST to you and viele Gre,

Wolf

NB. Want to have another look how your ancestors traveled to the new world ??
here is a nice link: http://www.stohn-genealogy.de/Table%20of%20Contens/7_%20Emigration%20of%20%20Stohns/7_%20emigration%20of%20%20stohns.html

( sorry, it is quite long and you might have to "stitch" it together)

Wolf, thank you for the interesting link! and it reminds me to ask this:

Would some kind soul who has access to the Hamburg emigration lists that are new at Ancestry, do a look up for Augusta Schwertfeger and her "infant" daughter Matilda (she could anywhere from 0-6 years). Emigration took place somehwere around 1865, give or take 5 years either way. It varies on several censuses.
