Otto Family

David,

Thanks for your reply. There are almost 2 columns of OTTOs listed in our
phone book including seven DAVIDs. My parents came from southern Illinois and
northern Missouri. The only Wisconsin relatives I have are my descendants.

I found the book and have placed a hold on it at the Appleton Library. I am
always interested in family history or wartime memoirs.

Regards,
Jim Hemmen

Hi Jim,

Wow, I had NO idea how popular "we" are in Appleton. As far as I know, none
of those are relatives of ours. The only remaining Otto that I know of is
in Green Bay (cousin) and his son, who is on a farm somewhere south of
there.

The primary reason I mentioned my GG grandfather's memoirs and that
published book, is that I thought MAYBE some of your relatives were some of
the other Germans in that same volunteer infantry. There are a lot of names
in there, and most of them are verified by Mr. Kennedy, who also worked for
the Wisconsin Historical Society.

For what this is worth, my family, after having them professionally
transcribed/typed, donated the original hand-written memoirs to the
University of Wisconsin - Madison. You can view these if you ever want to.
They are in the archives.

David
