Dear Listers,
Excuse me for writing auf Englisch. I hestitate writing in German, because of some discussion on another list about bad English to German translation. Here is my question. Where can I order these books for my husband's lines?
I have another question. After my husband's grandfather, Otto Nrnberg and his brother, Waldemar/Walter arrived in Brooklyn, New York in the 1920's not much was talked about the relatives in Naumburg. We have lost contact also with Uncle Waldi's daughter, too. Yes, I am aware that the Zivilstandesamt will not let me have copies of the marriages and deaths of the siblings of my husband's grandfather's sisters, but I would love to contact their descendants. One of the sisters married and then they moved to Leipzig, but the other one stayed in Naumburg. The Naumburg sister was married twice and she may have had children with both husband's. Would the Zivilstandesamt at least just provide their married names, so we can contact them?
May I ask the reason for this law about what information can be obtained from the Zivilstandesamt in regards to the siblings of direct ancestors? Under what circumstances may I obtain information from the Zivilstandesamt on these siblings of my husband's grandfather. Back in the 1960's I received the births and deaths of my grandmother's siblings. It helped me a lot to have this information, since the pastor had not recorded much about these children in the church books.
     Thank you.
