Genealogiy is a popular hobby.
Family histories and genealogical databases can be created and published by anyone, amature or professional.
Microfilmed civil and church registers are often dificult to decifer for any number of reasons...poor penmanship, inconsistant spelling, language, latin terms, and even errors made creating the original.
Family recollections may vary slightly due to individial memories or even perhaps firsthand family knowledgte that has not been shared with entire family..
To correct an error you could try to contact person responsible for publishing the information by email if addy can be found. If error in a church register perhaps a request to miniter, priest, record keeper to make notatoin to original records is possible. If an only family page perhaps a note to the guestbook might help.
I think of genealogy as something always evolving.
