I am researching my ONKEN ancestry. Following is what I know about the
family:
1. J�rgen Gerhard ONKEN was born the third of eight children on 3 Sep 1837
in Heidm�hle to J�rgen Dirks ONKEN (b. 20 Jul 1799 in Waddewarden, d. 23 Jul
1875 in Schortens) and Gebke M�LLER (b. 9 Feb 1803 in Hohenkirchen, d. 11
Jul 1871 in Schortens). J�rgen died on 8 Jul 1887 in Heidm�hle. He was
buried on 11 Jul 1887 in Schortens.
---> Does anyone have information regarding J�rgen Dirks ONKEN's and Gebke
M�LLER's ancestry? I would also appreciate information about their other
children.
J�rgen Gerhard married (1) Anna Friederike SCHR�DER, daughter of Johann
Conrad Christian SCHR�DER and Tomke Margarete WOLKEN on 11 Jun 1865. Anna
died before 2 Jun 1879.
---> Anna had previously been married to Hinrich Staashen DIRKS and had
three children with him before he died on 30 Sep 1863 in Schortens. Does
anyone have information regarding their children? Is there any information
regarding Anna's parents?

J�rgen married (2) Gretje Schweers RADEMACHER, daughter of Schweer Reiners
RADEMACHER and Anna Gerhards GOEDHALS on 2 Jun 1879. Gretje was born on 2
Jun 1851 in Moorlage, Aurich-Oldendorf.
They had the following children:
7 F vi. Baby Girl Onken was born on 25 Feb 1880 in Schortens. She died on
25 Feb 1880 in Schortens. She was buried in Schortens.
+ 8 M vii. Hinrich Gerhard Onken was born on 29 Apr 1881 in Heidm�hle. He
died on 28 Dec 1945 in Jackson county, Minnesota.
9 M viii. Georg Wilhelm Onken was born on 18 Apr 1883 in Schortens. He was
christened on 27 May 1883 in Schortens.
10 M ix. Edo Friedrich Onken was born on 25 Sep 1885 in Schortens. He was
christened on 15 Nov 1885 in Schortens.

--->When J�rgen died, Gretje re-married 21 April 1890 to Johann Hinrich
BOHLKEN in Reepsholt. Gretje had more children, including Anna Maria BOHLKEN
(b. 12 November 1890 in Langstra�erfeld), Geerke Hinrich BOHLKEN (b. 1
October 1893 in Langstra�erfeld), and Hilke "Hilda" BOHLKEN WIECHMAN (b. 28
July 1898 in Langstra�erfeld, d. 31 July 1989 in Litchfield, Meeker,
Minnesota). Gretje may have also married a PIELSTICK. Gretje resided in Dec
1923 in Langstra�erfeld, GERMANY. (I have plenty of data regarding Gretje's
ancestry, but I would appreciate more information about her life and
descendants. I would also like information regarding Johann BOHLKEN's
ancestry.)
8. Hinrich "Henry" Gerhard ONKEN (J�rgen Gerhard) was born on 29 Apr 1881 in
Heidm�hle. He was christened on 19 Jun 1881 in Schortens. He died on 28 Dec
1945 in Ewington twp, Jackson, Minnesota. He was buried on 31 Dec 1945 in
Rost twp, Jackson, Minnesota.
Hinrich served in the military as a tailor in Belfort.
Hinrich married Rieke Tiebbend SIEBELS, daughter of Johann Hinrich SIEBELS
(b. 3 May 1857, d. 7 Dec 1931 in Blomberg) and Louise Marie Henriette
Wilhelmine REINERS (b. 21 Feb 1861 to Julius Ricklefs REINERS and Gesine
Catherine GERDES, d. 25 Aug 1935 in Blomberg) on 24 Jun 1905 in
Fedderwarden. The marriage was witnessed by Julius Gustan SIEBELS and Louisa
Frederika POPKEN geb. FOLKERS. Rieke was born on 26 Mar 1886 in Belfort. She
was christened on 10 Apr 1887. She died on 18 Apr 1950 in Worthington,
Nobles, Minnesota. She was buried on 21 Apr 1950 in Rost twp, Jackson,
Minnesota.
