Oldenburg question

Thanks for the help. I can't understand why they would tell the census taker Oldenburg Prussia---- unless the census taker just added the Prussia and didn't get it from the people. This was an all German settlement though.

I think Prussia and Germany were somewhat synonymous with many people not
familiar with the German state system. Germany as such didn't really get going until
1871.
