HI Ruth Ann,

   Sometimes it is then sliced as needed and cooked as a slice.

   Many restaurants serve it that way. Sometimes thin, other times thick.

   I like it shaped randomly like he cooked it in the video. I like the
   brown edges.....

   This summer at a nice resturant in Cincinnati, I had it served as an
   appetizer in small portions called Goetta Balls!

   It was delicious!

   Goetta is generally frozen and or sold as a block.
